We’re huge fans of the Lotzza Motzza line of frozen pizzas here at Freezer Meal Frenzy. These bakeable pies are pure heaven, and they’re usually loaded up with crate-loads of cheese (a half pound of cheese on every 12″ pizza). Yet somehow, we still haven’t yet reviewed the Lotzza Motzza Cheese Pizza, which is the company’s most basic offering.
We’re going to rectify that today, for today we’re reviewing the Lotzza Motzza Cheese Pizza.
Cooking a Lotzza Motzza pizza is exactly what you’d expect. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit, put the pizza on a baking sheet, then cook it for about 21 minutes. The package actually says to place the pizza directly on the center rack of your oven, but we always use a baking sheet. It’s less of a mess (especially with all that cheese), and the pizza turns out just fine. (If you want to read the cooking instructions straight from the back of the packaging, check out the package scan at the bottom of this review.)
Like we mentioned in the opening paragraph, this is the most basic pizza in the Lotzza Motzza line. It’s just a crust with some sauce and cheese on it, the bare essentials for making a pizza. But all three of these things are great.
The crust is a super-thin, pub-style crust. It’s soft-ish, but with enough form that your pizza isn’t floppy. It also tastes pretty good. Some thin crusts can taste a bit like a Saltine cracker — this pizza does not suffer from this.
The sauce is fantastic. It’s a basic tomato paste, but it also has undertones of both sweetness and spiciness that really make it pop. It also has a little bit of body to it so it’s not runny, and the portion size is generous.
The star of this pizza show, however, is the cheese. Lotzza Motzza puts gobs and gobs of oh-so-gooey cheese on every pizza, and with the basic Cheese Pizza, that’s front and center. It’s just plain mozzarella with a bit of white cheddar thrown in, so it doesn’t have a complex flavor profile or anything like that, but it’s stretchy and thick and wonderful, so what else do you really need?
Lotzza Motzza pizzas are certainly not known for being diet-friendly. While the plain cheese pizza is no exception to this, it does have fewer calories than most of its counterparts. 1/5 of this pizza contains 310 calories (110 from fat) and 620 mg of sodium. Compare that to the Breakfast Pizza, which has 400 calories in 1/5 of a pizza, and you’ll see that the Cheese Pizza is clearly the lower-calorie option. It’s still not a diet food, though.
The Lotzza Motzza Cheese Pizza might be kind of plain, but it’s still delicious. Since oodles of cheese is one of the brand’s hallmarks, this seemingly ordinary pizza gives them a chance to show off one of the things they do best.
